At this spot the
medieval farmers had a heavy battle
with the nobility
of the surrounding castles.
The nobles did win
the battle,
killing the
compassionate count Floris the Fifth,
hero of the poor
people.
Floris lived from
1254 until 1296, June 27.
This killing has
never been forgotten.
Regularly groups
of Spirits are parading along this lane.
The place was not
changed very much during this 800 years.
A modest monument
of the killing is nearby.
