Rosa Lee Parks
1913-2005
In thankful remembrance
Rosa Lee Parks has been my hero
since I was a small boy.
Mrs. Rosa Louise Parks-McCauley was riding
on a city bus December 1, 1955, when a white
man
demanded her seat.
She refused to yield her seat
and go stand in the back of the bus.
Mrs. Parks was jailed.
She also was fined $14.
Her arrest triggered the 381-day boycott
of the bus system organized by
the Baptist Reverend Martin Luther King.
The movement reached its climax in August 1963
with The March on Washington, D.C.,
which was directly live broadcasted around the
world
by the Telstar satellite.
I followed the March the whole way on
television.
She inspired the millions by starting to break
up
the tabu of the USA caste system.
We should never forget her and follow her
example.
Her birthday was February 4
